چکیده

A range assignment to the nodes in a wireless ad hoc network induces a topology in which there is an edge between two nodes if and only if both of them are within each other’s transmission range. The critical transmission radius for -connectivity is the smallest such that if all nodes have the transmission radius , the induced topology is -connected. In this paper, we study the asymptotic critical transmission radius for -connectivity in a wireless ad hoc network whose nodes are uniformly and independently distributed in a unit-area square or disk. We provide a precise asymptotic distribution of the critical transmission radius for -connectivity. In addition, the critical neighbor number for -connectivity is the smallest integer such that if every node sets its transmission radius equal to the distance between itself and its -th nearest neighbor, the induced (symmetric) topology is -connected. Applying the critical transmission radius for -connectivity, we can obtain an asymptotic almost sure upper bound on the critical neighbor number for -connectivity.

A Study of Critical Transmission Range for Connectivity in Ad Hoc Network

In this paper, the critical transmitting range for connectivity in wireless ad hoc networks is analyzed. More specifically, we consider the following problem: Assume n nodes, each capable of communicating with nodes within a radius of r. The nods are randomly and uniformly distributed in a d-dimensional region with a side of lengthl. In this paper the critical transmission range in dense and sp...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

The Critical Neighbourhood Range for Asymptotic Overlay Connectivity in Ad Hoc Networks

We first motivate the use of ad hoc overlays. In particular, we argue that overlay routing could play a role in the spreading of ad hoc networks. We then define a simple criterion for neighbourhood: two overlay nodes are neighbours if and only if there exists a path between them of at most R hops, and R is called the (overlay) neighbourhood range. A small R may result in a disconnected overlay,...

Assessment of DSACC and QPART Algorithms in Ad Hoc Networks

The rapid advancement in wireless over wired has augmented the need for improving theQuality of Service (QoS) over such wireless links. However, the wireless ad hoc networkshave too low bandwidth, and establishing a QoS in these networks is a difficult issue. So,support of quality of service in ad hoc networks is the topical issue among the networkscience researchers. In this research we are go...
